Anything Under the Sun

Yes, it’s cake unlimited in April, that I got 4 cakes of different flavors for my birthday.  Thanks for the sponsors though. I’m not into sweets, oh yeah, maybe I’m just as sweet as cakes?? haha. I eat cake but not a favorite, same as with fruit salad, I rather go for veggies or macaroni salad simply because i find it healthy, really it is. But I still wonder why birthday is always associated with cake. I can’t even recall if there’s one birthday in my childhood days that I had a cake. Hindi pa uso I guess. I remember mom would only cook pancit, which is always believed for us to have a long life, and I think it’s the best way to celebrate birthdays those days. Unlike today, may pancit na, may unlimited cake pa!

My special day didn’t simply end with those cakes. I’m lucky enough to have joined the world’s longest buffet (exclusively for my birthday haha), and that is Guinness World Record. Though it only says, “longest table”, no food at all haha.  Really, it’s a rewarding experience to be part of this big event. Well, birthday for me is not only about these stuff, but more of being happy and thankful for another year to live.

From the longest buffet going back to a night shift, I always have this limited chance to see and feel the heat of the morning sun.



Do you still recall why our parents during our childhood days would not allow us to play under the sun? Well, I thank them because by not doing so, I got white. haha.  Kidding aside, while at work I always find time to get out of my workstation and stay outside for at least 15 minutes to get enough sunlight. It’s healthy though. I find it relaxing and refreshing. I feel recharged when I do it. And at least it stops me thinking that I am a vampire haha.

I also like sunbathing on the beach. I love it when I get dark and after a while I get whiter again. It would be cool if anyone dares to put sunscreen all over my body so I won’t get dark!

And this May, am still on a night shift. Just this morning when I got off from work, I was thinking what’s keeping mom so busy. I haven’t received any text message from her lately as she always does. Then later when I logged on to Facebook, I saw her photos dancing with the other senior citizens. I remember she told me the other day she was busy rehearsing haha, oh yeah, I missed to watch her dancing before a huge crowd and shout, “that’s my mom”. I would say, it’s now my turn to be proud of her.  I recall my childhood days; she’s been proud and supportive of me in everything I do, even until now. I know she will always be proud of me. And so am I. While I was not able to applaud and appreciate her in person, I have to tell the whole world that I am so proud of you, mom ;)

And just in time, I’d love to greet my mom and give honor and pride together with all moms out there, Happy Mother's day!
