9 Mornings

“Passport please", she reached out her hand with a smile.

I passed my passport and ticket, grinning.

I felt good. It was a relief inside.

It’s been a year, a long journey for me.  I took a window seat,

watched the people coming to board the plane.

I rested my head against the back of my seat. I closed my eyes,

I thought about everything I had done,

all that I had seen,

Happy moments.

Hard times.

My masterpieces.

Traveling far.  Some distance, but I'm finally going home.

I woke up this morning with such an overwhelming feeling,

that can only come from home.

I was dreaming though.

Now I wake up realizing it’s been a year since I've been home.

It’s exactly 9 days to go that I’m finally boarding the plane.

Yes, I have my ticket, and my stuff are ready.

I am excited.  I know it’s gonna be a blast when I come home.

I miss my family, I miss everyone.

My nieces and nephews have grown many inches.

Some people might become strangers but friends remain.

 A lot of things I miss.  I’ll eat a lot.

I’ll sleep at my old room with my old pillows.

Now it’s no more dreaming, it’s real.

And from today I’ll start counting.  It’s gonna be soon.

Now I feel good, I am happy.

Still 9 days to go.
